About this edition
The Spiritual Exercises are the retreat Saint Ignatius of Loyola drew from his own conversion, and the foundation of Ignatian prayer. Composed in the years after Manresa and offered to God for His greater glory, they lead the soul through four weeks of meditation and contemplation: sorrow for sin; the following of Christ from Bethlehem toward Jerusalem and the choice of a way of life; the watch through the Passion; and the joy of the Resurrection, rising at last to the Contemplation to Attain Love.
This Sanctified Souls Press edition presents the complete text, the Annotations, the four Weeks, the Three Methods of Prayer, the Mysteries of the Life of Christ, and the Rules for the Discernment of Spirits and for Thinking with the Church, in the translation Father Elder Mullan made from the Saint's own Spanish manuscript and published in 1914. Newly set in Crimson Pro and Cinzel, on cream paper, for reading and keeping.
