Thérèse Martin entered the Carmel of Lisieux at fifteen and died there at twenty-four, unknown to the world. Yet in her hidden life she found a little way to God: holiness not in great deeds but in small things done with great love, trusting God as a child trusts a father. Her Story of a Soul went out after her death and reached the whole Church, which would name her a Doctor of the Church and patroness of the missions.
Merciful Love draws her Little Way into a thirty-day retreat. Each day sets Thérèse's own words, in Thomas Taylor's public domain English with her French beside them, next to a short reflection for today, a line to carry, a question to sit with, and a prayer.
