With those words St. Augustine opened the first spiritual autobiography ever written, and still the greatest. The Confessions is the story of a brilliant, hungry, divided man who chased every substitute for God the ancient world could offer, and was found at last by the God he was running from.

Cor Inquietum walks the arc of the Confessions over fourteen days, in Augustine's own words, in the beloved public-domain translation of E. B. Pusey. Each day opens with a line of his own, sets the scene, and gives his words at length, before turning to what they ask of us today, a word of Scripture, a question to carry, and a prayer, most of them Augustine's own, for the Confessions is nothing if not one long, burning prayer.
